We have been working on our describe writing.  We have to write it in present tense and include what we can see, hear, smell, taste, feel.  Another thing we are are trying to do is show not tell

The bright sun is beaming onto my arms and wrinkled tired face. A gentle breeze brushes across my face helping cool me from the hot rays of sun. Hard wooden slats of wood burn into my soft skin as I rest heavily against the frame of the seat.

Trees rustling in the distance, birds singing sweet songs high above me, a little dog yelping for help and children shouting loudly. Footsteps thump the ground in front of me as I imagine who might be walking by my seat, were they adults strolling by or some of the loud squealing children.

Wafting smells of chocolate and purple rippled boysenberry ice cream fill my senses and make me want to get my own.

Description Writing week 2 term 4

We have been working on our describe writing.  We have to write it in present tense and include what we can see, hear, smell, taste and feel.  Another thing we are are trying to do is 'show not tell'.

Here is a piece of writing I have been working on.  I hope you enjoy it.

POP, went the giant party popper as the celebrations began. Squealing, giggling sounds of children ring out into the living room. Musical sounds of the happy birthday song float in the air as the candles burn brightly as the sun.

Swimming at Canterbury Swim School

For the last 2 weeks we have been going swimming at Canterbury Swim School.  This year my teachers were Sam and Solar.  We did lots of practice at freestyle, backstroke, sculling on our backs for survival and water safety skills.

I think I have got better at breathing and all parts of my swimming.  Here I am helping others get out of the pool safely.
